What Moves Fashion Forward?

If we were to ask you what are the current trends in fashion right now, you would probably allude to vintage, straight-cut pants, or oversized hoodies. Those types of styles are popular right now, but they won’t always be. In today’s article, we are going to attempt to answer the question, “what moves fashion forward?”

The Youth

One of the most influential groups that pushes fashion forward is the youth. We would describe the youth as any person between the ages of 16 and 25. These are the people who are most plugged into popular culture, media, and entertainment. The youth is oftentimes the first group of people to try new things. This exploration allows for creativity to blossom, especially in fashion.

Influential Designers

There are several influential designers in fashion right now. The designers that we are most tapped into tend to revolve around streetwear, but fashion isn’t limited to that. When you think about influence, think about Virgil Abloh in 2017 when he collaborated with Nike. That collection’s influence is still being felt today and reestablished Nike as one of the coolest brands in the world. 

Celebrities

Celebrities are typically regarded as some of the most influential individuals in fashion. Celebrities have the money to purchase and style in ways that less fortunate individuals aren’t able to. There are tons of celebrities that influence fashion, and because they have an image to uphold, they also push the boundaries of fashion more often than not. This leads to new styles and newfound ideation for outfits and products.
